The Three Leading MLB Players in Career Stolen Bases

Stealing bases is a crucial aspect of trying to generate offense in baseball. Listed below are the three all-time leaders in stolen bases in Major League Baseball (MLB).

1. Rickey Henderson - Inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2009, Henderson stole 1,406 bases through 25 seasons in MLB. The two-time World Series winner played for nine different teams and recorded more than 50 stolen bases in 14 seasons.

2. Lou Brock - Brock, who is also in the Baseball Hall of Fame, stole 938 bases through 19 seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs. He set a career high with 118 stolen bases in 1974 and led the league in the category in seven of the previous eight seasons.

3. Billy Hamilton - Hamilton played for three different teams from 1888 to 1901, during which time he stole 914 bases. He recorded more than 100 stolen bases in four seasons. He also led the league in batting average in 1891 and 1893. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1961.
