After working in sales with companies such as Oracle, FullFunnel, and QuickBase, Joseph Vessecchia received a merit scholarship to pursue his MBA in finance at the University of Rochester's Simon Business School, where he expects to graduate in 2021. Alongside his studies, Joseph Vessecchia enjoys hiking in the local area.
Abraham Lincoln Park lies near Rochester and features 3.5 miles of hiking trails through mostly-forested hills. Previously called Irondequoit Bay Park East, it received its new name on the 200th anniversary of the birth of Abraham Lincoln.
Located in the town of Penfield, the park lies on the east shore of Lake Ontario's Irondequoit Bay, which several of the park's trails overlook. A little-used hiking destination, the park could benefit from more attention, but for those who enjoy wooded hiking with fewer people around, its 182 acres offer a treasure of scenery to explore, ranging from beech forests to sandy cliffs along the water.
Visitors can access the park either from Empire Boulevard off Daytona Avenue or Smith Road near Empire Boulevard. Be aware that park rules require that visitors pack out all their waste for disposal elsewhere.
